Got my 2013 HD Dyna Street Bob in January and just had it taken in for a leak at the jug. When i was called about it i was told its the result of a bad mold. If the mold was bad how many have had this issue? And do any of you know if this is a frequent occurrence? I think its a serious issue but i could be paranoid. What do yall think?
The op must be talking about a bad casting on the block or barrel. Being how the gaskets leaking and a new one would probably do the same it wouldn't surprise me if they had to replace it
Never heard of that. Mold could attack your leather stuff pretty easy though. Put a heat lamp under your bike while it is parked and see if that helps.
OP that's a good question. I would think in a perfect world the moco would isolate a sequence of serial numbers and offer an inspection recall.
Did they say the case is defective, or is it a "jug"?

Every now and then you can get a casting that has some sand holes in it due to a problem in the mold making process...
Not all that common. They are normally caught in the QC process.
It should certainly be covered under warranty. Just let them fix it and move on.....not a big deal.
Back a few years ago I bought a Kawasaki Ninja. They had a mold issue with the engine case and had several hundred that got recalled as a result. My bike missed the recall by just a few numbers on the VIN, so they fixed the issue just before mine was made. It happens.
