For a rather innocuous Harley logo and really good quality I'd suggest that the OP take a look at the FXRG Jackets. My first choice would be Fox Creek, but that's not where the discount coupon will work.
They are half as thick as most other name brand jacket manufacturers and just the way they feel compared to a quality jacket gives away how cheap HD Jackets are. Make no mistake you are paying for a name not quality.
I don't think they are cheaply made jackets. Have you ever read a post that stated their Harley logo'ed apparel fell apart?
They are actually a good quality jacket. Are they a heavy jacket, no. Are they custom made to fit, no. But good quality.

I'm calling BS on this. All of the Harley gear I own shows not a hint of being inferior in any way. I'm sure there are great products from reputable venders a guy could buy from....perhaps even made in US (be careful about what you THINK you know about US quality vs Chinese quality). I've seen the offerings from 'third party' producers. Yes quality looks good, but prices don't seem all that much different. I could be full of she-ite too, but someone's going to have to prove to me Harley is selling inferior products and twice the price, cause I ain't buyin it.
All this proves is you've never put on a quality, made in America leather jacket. Doesn't make you a poser, or me a biker. It is what it is.
The pictures posted of the Harley leathers only makes them look like what they really are. Overpriced inferior overseas junk.
Doesn't Harley sell a standard, good old fashioned, Biker leather jacket without all the logo or other crap all over it anymore? Good old fashioned road leather. I have a certificate and some bonus points and I need a new jacket so I thought I'd check it out. Nada that I've found? Guess i'll be saving a little longer for another Schott. Some may remember, my old faithful was stolen off my bike.
The HD leather that I have is better than the off-brands. But mine are older ones with subtle and tasteful logos. A lot of the newer HD stuff is really tacky. But if you want leather without logos, no sense paying the HD premium
As answer to the question, "why do people have problem promoting the company of the bike they love" here is my two cents.
I have ridden harley's for going on 24 years. I have never bought one from a dealer nor do i buy parts from the dealer when i can avoid it. There are no harley logos on my bike and I own one harley sweatshirt and two harley t-shirts from dealerships i have visited on the road and they were all purchased from the seconds rack. I love my bike. I would never ride anything other than a harley. The issue i have with the moco is the way it uses it's branding and "harley cool" to jack up prices on everything from ignition wires to ball caps. There are many more people out there who own Harleys, not purchased from a dealer who never see the inside of a dealership. So most of the MOCO's marketing is aimed at new and first time purchasers, tourists and fashionistas. Fox Creek makes top quality leather everything. Comparable or cheaper than Harley. Made in America with excellent customer service. I would rather support and promote a company like Fox Creek when it comes to riding leathers than Harley. Time and again the MOCO has demonstrated it's willingness to suck every penny out of it's sales base. That is their right and mission as a corporation. It is also my right to call bullshit when it comes to that stuff and choose not to promote the company even though i love my bike(s).
Another option if you want a warm jacket, get one of the cotton/nylon jackets with the armor. I have one, it's essentially a ski jacket with all those features and armor in it. It beats every leather jacket I've ever worn for warmth. With the zip out liner in it, it's damn near as heavy as a spring leather jacket. It's got the HD logo on it, but i really like it and it's good to under 40 degrees.

Actually, I have thought about both of those. It's just that their dealers are far and few between and it would mean some serious road time to find parts and such. There are 3 Harley dealers within 30 miles of my house.
You must live in my house! Your thread describes me to a tee all the way down to 3 HD dealerships within 20 miles of my house! I too am interested in the new Indian. I went and sat on the new Chief last week, beautiful ride. The only problem is the dealership is 45 miles away.
