The 1st time I did it it took me almost 8 hours Cuz of the wires, The 2nd time took me 4 hours and I'm about the do it for the 3rd time this next weekend and I would never pay that. But if you really want to pay that much I'll fly down there and do it for 1,100 flat!! Lol
Plan for a day's work. It takes a little while. Hardest part is getting the gas tank off without spilling gas all over creation. Get somebody else to hold the bucket.
Just had 12" mini apes put on the bike I bought. Final charge was around 700, including new bars, risers, and brake lines, with internal wiring. Perhaps the dealer cut me a break?
The price really varies depending on what kind of bike, is there a fairing or is just bars. Do you want your wiring inside or outside of the bars? Inside is a much bigger pain in the ***. The cables alone (clutch, two throttle and one brake line) will cost you some where between $250 - $300. If you are going with apes from Roland Sands or Arlen ness you are looking at $250 minimum. Though it is extending the wire harness that takes most of the time and that is where your labor gets eaten up. A minimum of 4 hours x 125/hr at the dealer thats $500 right there, you are already over $1000 right out of the gate.
Do it yourself and save the labor. Or find a small local shop that charges less (some charge $75-$80 an hour).

You could just like the handlebars that came on it for nothing. This is one of those "you got a few choices" deals.
Do it yourself, know it's done right and only be out the cost of parts and time.
Do it yourself, dick something up or get overwhelmed, trailer it to the dealer or mechanic and pay the original amount for installation plus 30% for the "You shoulda brought it here first" tax, providing you didn't break any parts (especially TBW).
Take it to a reliable and known talented indy shop and hope they know all the ins and outs of a brand new bike.
