I'm south of Dallas and while it normally gets into the 30s during Dec-Jan-Feb, we didn't have much of a winter this last season because I never used my battery tender. I still had to wear my leathers during those months.
san antonio, tx. would make a great home base...or the texas coast. IH-10 would be the dividing point between riding all the time and nearly all the time.
I agree south Texas is the place, cost of living lower weather is great all year except in June-Sept, it's hot. But then you ride morning and evening and stay in AC or pool in the heat of the day. Even when traveling.....
Stay the hell out of South Dakota! I try to ride year around but winter is winter! I do ride every month (ride = 100 plus) but there are times that it will be 2 to 3 weeks in between rides
I ride year round here in Louisiana. In fact, I do more riding from October to May than I do from May to September. The winters are mild, we rarely get any kind of ice or snow, and when we do, it lasts only hours, not days. Even in the dead of winter, I rarely have to dress out in full leathers. I've ridden in short sleeves the day after Christmas, and in January and February. I can't imagine having to put my bike away for an entire winter. All in all, south Louisiana roads suck ***, so my vote goes to central Texas(Austin/San Antonio.) Lived there before and wouldn't hesitate to move back.
South Fl, yeh ok hot in summer but we ride any day of the week in any month. It can get into the high 40s at night and early mornings for a handful of days. We do need rain gear or accept that we're gonna get rained on, especially in summer.

NYC Checking in. I ride all year round and i know a lot of other bikers who do the same. No reason to put the bike for a few a few weeks here and there of snowy weather. We get lots of nice weeks when it may be chilly or down right cold but beautiful sunny riding weather if you dress correctly. I have never put my bike up for the winter and i only know a few guys who do. Best riding weather is just hitting us right now.
