My '03 had 900 miles on it when I bought it 2 years ago. Pretty low for 8 years.
The only issue I had was a fork seal that had begun to leak slightly. Easily replaced.
For safety's sake, change the tires. They may hold air, but the rubber WILL be stiff and have less grip than fresh tires (plus, tires have gotten better).
