high mileage

My bikes a '99 and it's got almost 55k on it. I've had a few people tell me that's high mileage. That works out to less the 4k a year. If it was a car, buyers would be all over it. But being its a fragile used Harley Police bike, it's ready to be sent to the wrecking yard to be dismantled for parts. I 've noticed there's 2 kinds of Harley owners. Riders and polishers. Guys that buy the bike to ride, and those that enjoy telling people that they own a Harley. And are proud they own a 5 year old bike with 2,200 miles on it. I don't get it.,,

I have an '03 with 120K. Now that the wife has retired, hope to hit 200K in the next couple years. I also am not **** about maintenance and service but do what is necessary and reasonable. HD schedules are for the birds.

As the saying goes, "...it depends...". Up in the north here, you lose quite a bit of the year due to weather. I've got almost 16K on mine in two riding seasons. I don't know if people think that's low, but I ride as much as I can. I'll ride to work when it's in the mid to high 40's in the morning, but when it gets into the 30's, I'm done, as I'm not going to mess with black ice, etc. For those lucky guys that live south of the Mason-Dixon line and can ride almost all year, I'm probably nowhere near them. Unfortunately the fall weather up here is already getting damned cold so the riding season may be just about over.
