Suggestion: Don't read the threads.

But, I do agree with you. I don't find it necessary.

I am 73 and have ridden since 1956. I have not even had a close call in 57 years on a bike. Since I retired I do 30K a year and have covered most of the North American Continent . I consider myself to be an extreme defensive driver. I always am ready to give up the right of way. I always slow and watch for the left turner not waiting for me or the driver pulling out in front of me. It is not possible for me to ever say "the vehicle in front of me stopped suddenly" as I maintain a very safe following distance. If a car goes around me and pulls in I simply drop back to a safe distance again. I have not even dropped a bike on my own. I call BS on those that claim you have either fallen down or will fall down.

A bike, a car a gun is not unsafe it is the operator. I told my bike to go out and hit a deer. It just stayed on it's jiffy stand.

Guess I'm beating the hell out of the odds. Nearly lost a leg when I got clipped by a dually in 2000. Damn near got killed & DID lose an arm in '07.

Why can't I win the G$$D lottery?

I try to avoid them. Just takes the enjoyment out of riding. It is very unfortunate to see and hear of crashes/ fatalities. Hopefully this doesn't happen. To many bad things in the world as it is. Riding is a supposed to be a release from the challenges of life (although it does bring on more). Focus should be to educate / practice safety and not on trauma and tragedy.

I suppose those that start those threads feel they're expressing their right to free speech. I'm not sure what actually motivates them, though. So be it. I don't care to read about that stuff either, so I exercise my right of freedom of choice and skip those threads.

Human nature to be interested in gore, death, tragedy, misfortune, accidents, crime and assorted calamity. What do we do when we drive past a wreck?
When was the last time you read a headline or thread about the migration of butterflies?

Some people feel the to dissect every incident, big or small. There are the real accidents but mostly the "almost" crashes are posted due to the texting teenager, inattentive soccer mom, truck driving lane changer etc. etc are chronicled ad nauseum. Some have their MSF instructor on speed dial so they can get reassurance that they did the right thing or reacted properly. Others post here so they can get a consensus of opinion.

Others don't care to post that stuff.

If you won the lotto, you'd just get a faster Harley, and die sooner. As far as all the bullshit threads about motor wrecks, Big effin' deal. Ride long enough, and you wreck, simple. These newbie clowns think it's news, which it ain't. Belongs on the back page of Seventeen,or Cosmo,or Good Houskeeping.
