I agree with the OP unless it's a forum member. There are 5,000 motorcycle deaths per year or roughly 13 per day and I am sure a fair number are riding Harley's. SJ Ron
There are 10 posts a day on here that I could care less about. I just skip over them. What difference does it make? You don't want to read them...don't.
When I got hit I posted on here and it was nice to hear from others that had been through the same. I know it could never be you.....until it is. I always thought that too.
If my post bothered you, read the oil threads or another should I get apes post.
You can tell what the post is before open it... so why do you?
Once a long time ago I posted a thread like this saying how I didn't like the 'bro down' threads. I have also, through the years let the populace know about my distaste for a few of the other beat to death thread topics of which 1 or 2 pop up each and every day. But guess what? Nothing is accomplished in doing so. That is just the nature of HDForums. You take the good with the stuff you don't think of as quite as good, and don't complain.
You know what bugs me now? People who don't do this.
Now suck it up and go to the humor section and forget about it!
i don't care for the death posts either...always make me think about things like how experienced was the rider, was he wearing a helmet, was he riding defensively, was he speeding, had he been drinking, and so on. most motorcycle wrecks could be avoided by riding defensively. and then there are the "had to lay her down today" posts or i would have got hit. pay attention and you won't have to lay her down.
thousands of people die every day and that many or more are born every day to take their place. the only people who will remember the deceased after a few days are family and close friends. no real purpose is served by posting the death notices...the careful attentive riders already are doing what they can to stay safe, and the riders with poor riding habits just think "it won't happen to me".
I understand the OP's point. The crash threads are a downer. But they do serve to remind us, many of us, I guess, to ride smart out there and take the necessary gear steps.
Come to think of it, this thread has reminded me that I've been riding pretty fast lately and need to chill. It's fun to turn the throttle, but I've been doing it too easily lately.
I feel really confident on my bike these days, hence the speed racing. But that can lead to being careless.
I won't even open one and I didn't read any responses in this one.
When I got to work Sunday morning the security guy says he saw on the news that four people died on bikes in a head on in PA or someplace over the weekend. I told him I saw in the paper that morning that a guy died in the town we work in the day before in a one car crash. I then asked him, "whats your point? He said, "nothing I guess".

Agree with OP also. I usally just skip over them.....then again I skip over allot. But, it is an active forum and people can post what they want...and will.
Reason they don't post that stuff on the other forum is cause maybe not enough traffic....they need the attention.

If you exclude motorcycle crashes that are alcohol related and riders with less than a year's experience the percentages drop way down.
