Some folks become complacent when to many posts take place and some folks remain vigilant as a result of them. I read them and sometimes learn from them.

To each his (or Her) own.

Actually I do read the threads with this morbid content to find out what happened in the hopes that I can avoid that situation or at least be aware of what caused it.

If you don't like those threads simply dont read them.

AMEN. I find no enjoyment reading them at all. I've never been one to chase accidents or wear a scanner either.

BUT I only hope reading a near miss or accident/down thread enlightens me to pay more attention to situations that I may not have already experienced on my own. Yea I got the risk and understand percentages. I still ride. I find no fault by those who post the "down" threads - know the victims or not. Do I open all of them - NO - just depends on what is in the subject box.

Each his/her own... guess some are just more experienced than I am and know it already. HEY let me buy you a drink, 2nd thought 2 and be sure to have a safe ride home...

I just don't read them, but the mood killer title has already done its damage.

Insurance Stats

Cruise.5.7 deaths per 10,000 registered motorcycles

Touring.6.5 deaths per 10,000 registered motorcycles

Sport.33.2 deaths per 10,000 registered motorcycles

I read them so I can learn from other peoples mistakes

This is exactly why I stopped visiting this site on a daily basis.

While I recognize the risks, I don't like the buzz kill of reading about biker accidents and people who have died. The points about not clicking on the links are valid, as is the point of having a separate forum; however, when I look down a list and see "Buddy died..." "Another death.." etc., it has an effect on me as it probably does on everyone.

I come here to read about the hobby/lifestyle of riding my Harley and enjoying life. If I want to read about accidents, I'll look elsewhere.

My 2 cents.

The morbid bike threads didn't open unless you open them. Start your own forum or don't open them. Who died and made you king-----------whiner.
