I purchased a bike not so long ago, When I went to look at it it had a solo seat on it, and made payment, when I went to collect the solo seat was gone and the original seat was placed on the bike with cable ties, wasn't happy but didnt want to sound petty and left it.
So im wanting to get another one, I presume you have to get brackets welded onto the frame for them to attach?, or can you buy ones that work with your bike, its a 81 fxwg.
First of all don't be a chump and demand the seat that was on the bike when the deal was done.
Any bike (HD) can have a solo seat from an after market company such as Mustang just for one.
I am guessing this is a private owner but regardless, reading your post just pisses me off. Petty??? Don't be a wimp. Sorry to sound like billy bad *** but you let this seller ride you like a bitch. Now grow a set, go back and get your seat.
BTW, your location is unclear. Only. ask cause I live in Surry county NC. If you need help and are local let me know.

Sounds like you got F-ED. Stop payment on the check ( if possible) after you call the seller and he wont give you the seat. Otherwise take Mikes offer and "reach out"...
OP, first of all (and I'll bet you know this, already), a person is always better off to do things their own way, versus the way others might have them do. That way, if there's a price to be paid, you're paying for your own 'ride'…you're not paying for someone else's trip. With that said, here's my advice:
Ask for the solo seat, for the obvious reason. Be firm. If the seller declines, let it go. Almost anything you could do to 'persuade' the individual will land you in a heap of trouble of one kind, or another. If you are the type that doesn't mind 'trouble', or even welcomes such, then so be it. But if you're one of us with a steady job, a family/kids, etc., you have to think it's one thing to talk like a badass…but quite another to actually live that life.
What year/model is the bike? You'd think you wouldn't need to weld anything on, to mount a solo seat…? As requested, pics of what you're dealing with would be helpful.

I'd say its to late now you should have said something at the time, not like its a small thing that you might not have noticed, once the guys got your money he's not interested, as for your question as Alan said pics would help, have you actually ordered one ? Surprised anyone still makes a seat for an 81 bike over 30 years old.

They make a ton of seats for old bikes.
To the OP, some solos (dual spring type) are universal and they sell a mounting kit separately. Other types that actually fit your bike, such as La Pera, have brackets on the seat that match up with the cross tube on your frame and they supply threaded rubber plugs for a tight fit.
Let's see a pic of that Shovelhead.

It's easier to fit a solo seat to the old 4-speed frame than it is to fit a solo seat to a new bike. Whether you want to go to the original pogo stick setup, or something else, there's lots of choices out there.

I know what you're saying guys about asking for the seat, When I went to pick the bike up he wasn't there and his wife or gf was there, I had already paid into his bank account a week before. When I first e mailed him about the bike he was very friendly, but I contacted him a few times during and after the sale and he never replied until the second e mail, short e mails like he wasn t bothered, I guess he had his money, I didn't want to rock the boat he had the bike I bought from him.
The bikes everything he said it was, Apart from an oil leak and him not giving the solo seat, and a dent in the tank that wasn't there before, I looked on his feedback on ebay, and another guy left feedback saying some parts off the back he purchased where replaced with other parts.
Its obviously not a mistake and done on purpose, I'm actually glad I got the bike was a bit worried there for a couple of days when arranging a pick up date, Bottom line is I have a family now, I dont want to get into fights, legal issues, it happened put it down to my luck, and a bit of my own stupidity and try learn from it best I can, Meanwhile I have a harley in the garage that needs couple things doing so that puts a smile on my face, I will post pics and a video shortly. Thanks

So no, it wasn't what he said. As a fellow Canadian, you're being too Canadian. You're getting f$&cked without the physical act happening.
The dent and seat issue is ridiculous if it wasn't mentioned in the ad.
