Mirrors

Does anyone know if the body of a mirror can be removed from the stem and another body put back on that same stem? Has anyone attempted to to transfer a HD mirror body to a new stem?

I haven't done it for a long time, but mirrors that can be remounted generally have two screws on either side of the ball joint. Taking them out will release the ball and you can re-glass the mirror and put it back. It's kind of rare to see that kind of mirror any more because it's generally cheaper to get a new one than to do repair work.

D'oh! Now I see you picture. Yes, that looks like the kind of mirror that can have the head removed and replaced.
