are you sure you really need a new battery to begin with? if it sat in 20 degrees for two or three days that could suck the life out of it. i would say throw it on a tender over the winter and cross that bridge in the spring. i would almost bet it would be just fine and fire right up come spring time. why buy a new battery if you don't need to, ya know?

But what will you do when we get those 50-60 degree days during the winter?

Get it now and leave it on the tender.

For the first time ever, the bike wouldn't start (lights came on but the starter just wouln't turn). I rode 3 days ago with no issues at all and it has started every time since I bought it. The last few nights temps have been in the 20's (bike is always in an unheated garage). I put the bike on the battery tender for a few hours and then it started right up. So, I guess the cold is draining my 3.5 year old battery. So I will be getting a new one for sure.

Here's the question.... Do I put it in now when I'm about to put the bike away for the next 3 months (will be on a tender either way) or wait until March?

Any advise and opinions are welcome... thanks!
A "few nights in the 20's" shouldn't necessarily do in a 3.5 year old battery.. I would check your charging system also just to make sure it is working properly.

Wait until Spring and put in a nice fresh battery. As noted by others, check the date on it and you will be good to go.

You'll get a better deal if you buy it now keep it on a tender over the winter. drop it in come spring. Three more months isn't going to make much difference, when it gives up the ghost it just goes.

What he said. If you get one now you will be wasting 3 months of warranty.
