Something similar happened to me with my car getting a big dent in it a few years back. My wife asked me if I would have felt better if it would have been one of daughters that got hurt instead. Metal can be repaired. Glad no one was injured.
Old news for me. Sloped driveway caused to try to catch my idling Softail from falling over once and I RIPPED a tendon in my right arm from the weight. Now I got a permanent Popeye the Sailor bicep. I have gone down a few times on my bike and recovered but this caused me permanent physical damage. So don't feel so bad. The bike and car you can fiix and Hopefully even your marriage if it's worth it. Lol. Like D-Streetglider said my wife is **** about her car and would've had a **** fit!! Good luck.
So sorry to hear, does kinda suck going into winter...All my wrenchhead friends tell that excessive idling is bad...(unless it's sub-freezing) idle for 45 seconds take off easily. Same thing on return idle for 45 seconds then shut down (without blipping the throttle every 2 seconds).
For 45 seconds I can sit on the bike eliminating this worry.
The other thing they say is unless you're gonna bring the bike to operating temperature keep the idliding/running to an absolute minimum.
Did it really matter that it was a Street Glide, or even what year it was?
Everything you just said had nothing to do with the OP"s story, The term is motorhead, 45 seconds? Were do people come up with this BS
Sucks about about your bike and the car. I've dropped mine on a flat level drive way and it wasn't running. At least you weren't under it when she went down, that would have really ruined your day.
