The dealer will know this and you'll be at a disadvantage in negotiations; you just can't get up and leave and come back in a few days for a better deal.

It's an older bike w/ high miles. It's December. That bike isn't going anywhere right now. IMO, I would ask that a carfax and all service records be emailed to you so you can dig into any history. Then I'd really lowball them with an almost embarrassing offer. You need a real low price to offset the risk of hidden issues that could be lurking somewhere.

I hope it turns out to be a cream-puff and gives you tons of trouble-free miles, but plan for the worst and buy accordingly.

Good luck!
No way I'd go up there before getting a CarFax and I got a buddy that lives about 100 miles from there that said he would drive out there but he doesn't ride and isn't any kind if mechanic so it's kinda pointless. It's a 98% chance I'll pass it up but I thought I'd float it out there to get the general consensus.

If it was close to stock had half the miles and $5,000.00
Look closer to home and don,t make the $6,000 mistake .

Around here, you can get a Twin Cam Wideglide with mileage in the teens for similar money.

Plus, are you willing to ride an unknown bike all that way in the freezing cold? Always buy vehicles locally.

The first thing that popped into my head was with that many miles how soon would you have to do a rebuild or just replace the motor. If that did happen anytime after you bought it, that could make a very expensive used bike. Personally, I'd shop around a little.
