Mark this is interesting. Just the other day I heard a slapping sound from my primary while it was warming up. After it reached operating temperature, the sound diminished.
Could that sound be from a loose chain?
Could be, won't hurt to pull the outer cover and take a peak.If the chain was slapping the primary it should have left a witness mark.
Dude you can't listen to us. We'll have you buying all kinds of stuff.
I bet you this. Ride the crap out of it and I bet you every 2000 miles or less you will have 10 things YOU want to do to this bike.
The more miles you put on it the more what you want most will keep popping into your head all the time.
Boy YOU really did get the wrong bike. Unfortunately you got a Harley and there are more things that you can do to one than ALL the Jap bikes combined, just set aside one paycheck each month for mods and you will be fine, after 10 years you won't even know what your bike started out as.
First thing I would do is not worry about modding the exhaust. If you ride it as is, it will eventually get louder and sound better all on it's own. I don't know why everyone has to run out and spend all that additional coin on the bike right after buying it. If you get slip on's now, you'll be buying another pair at 20,000 miles anyway, since that'll be about the time it'll be ready for one.
People around here change exhausts and tunes more than I change my underwear. Heck, that bike isn't really even broke in yet. Not to mention the fact that when you tour with it, you'll get really tired of loud pipes in a hurry. Get that thing out for a 500 mile day, and if your pipes don't sound groups better after that, then you might think about changing them.
