I have the day/night Panoptix Raptor sunglasses/goggles and really like them. They've stayed glued to my face in up to 35 mph winds and don't allow any sand or dirt into my eyes. The only negative is that if you're going directly into a setting sun they're not as strong as regular sunglasses. Other than that, they're great.

i wear a pair of HD transitional lense glassesthat ran me like 65 bucks after i got sick of the wwf look of all the cheaper ones. these have more square shaped frame and fit and look much better and come with a strap you can attache to the arms that give em a goggle tightness when needed. i usually only use the strap for cold weather though to keep from watering eyes.

I carry both on trips, if ya get up into Canada for example , where the roads are less traveled goggles are a must, (dirt on the road etc.)

I wear goggles but it will leave a much worse sun pattern on your face.

I guess a little sunscreen would have gone a long way too.. This is after a roughly 7-8 hour riding day, wind and sun.

I use both. Have the Panoptix and yes, they are expensive. Have goggles as well. Depends on the weather here in Washington. You have to be ready for anything.

I always wear my Wiley-X SG 1 glasses/googles when I ride. I always wear them as a goggle using the included elastic strap but you can wear them as sunglasses too. The SG 1 frame is made out of some really flexible plastic/nylon material that is practically unbreakable. You can actually fold the frame in half and stick it in your pocket and it won't break. These are the only model glasses/goggles I have found that have this super tough and flexible frame. The goggles fit very snug and really wrap around and hug your faceusing the elastic strap because of their flexible frame. They also look just like regular sunglasses because they are a small frame unlike a lot of other goggles. They are comfortable and are very well made. I have mine for about 5 years now and have never had a problem with them. The "harder style" foam used around the frame is holding up just fine and has not torn or worn away in spots like a lot of the cheaper sunglasses/goggles with the really soft foam tend to do after a while.

Another thing is that if you wear glasses or contacts, you can special order these with RX lenses and leave the glasses/contacts at home. These are the only goggles that will allow you to still change out dark smoke lenses for day to clear for night with RX lenses. You would need to buy two sets (day/dark and night/clear) RX lenses but at least you wouldbe able to switch them out whenever you needed to. All of the other goggles I have looked at, once you put in the RX lenses they are in forever because they glue the RX lenses to the frame. So you have to choose between dark smoke or clear all of the time and will have to carry a second pair of goggles/sunglasses with you if you need to adjust for light conditions.

You should check the SG 1 glasses/goggles out in person and try them on for size. I don't think you will find another similar model with the same features for the same money anywhere.

I prefer safety glasses, its important that you have the type that seal the air from around your nose into your eyes. The wrap around type suite me the best.

I wear prescription glasses and tried the over the glasses goggles and didn't really care for the loss of my periferal vision. With the goggles though wind the through the center between the lenses and around the sides just got to be uncomfortable and I have a windshield. So I bit the bullet and went down to my optomertist and orded a pair of prescription RayBan wraparound sunglasses. Picked them up last week and rode the following day with them and can honestly say that $250.00 is well spent. Love them. The fine looking lady at the optomertist office was a biker herself so she knew what I was talking about and recommended them. She said I could polarize them for another 150 but I declined. Didn't figure I'd be doing any fishing.
