Default Cranking Engine with plugs out

I don't know much about electronics but I believe if I am going to crank the engine with the spark plugs out I should have the plug wires grounded.

How about if I'm going to turn the engine over with the ignition off by rotating the rear wheel. Should the wires be grounded? My instincts say no but they've been wrong more than once.

You will be fine turning it over by hand without grounding the wires.

Don't spin it backwards, you'll hear satanic messages.

if you have the ignition on you should ground the plug wires on the bikes with electronic ignitions. don't worry about it if the power is off. you could also pull the coil wire off to kill power to the coil.
