Default 883L to what??

My wife has a 2009 883L that she has be riding a while and now she said she wants to "upgrade" bikes. She told me about a 2010 Dyna Wide Glide......Maybe it's just me but is there much difference in the two? I was thinking of a Heritage or something like that. Any ideas???

Have her join us in the Queens of the Road and we'll help confuse her even more.

Yeah there's a pretty significant difference in weight, engine size, power, balance, and control because of the stretched out forks and skinny front wheel. It is a really nice bike and I am sure she would be happy with the wide glide if that is what she wants. As always she should test ride one and see for herself. If she is interested in other bikes she should test ride them as well.

Get what she wants. It'll be her bike, not yours. If Mamma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

I went from an 883 Sportster Hugger to a 2010 Wide Glide and I love my wide glide. Have her go ride it but be careful, she's going to fall in love with that bike.

I put bags and a windshield on mine so if she wants those things they are out there.

Wife was on 883 for a short while, then moved up to an FXD (for 3 years), the longer distances we rode she found discomfort (I think this "age" thing has been catching up to both of us ;-)), so instead of changing it all around we traded for a Deluxe just before Christmas - so far much more comfortable (we also upgraded to the hard bags in the deal which she needed so she can ride to work without a backpack). Both are great bikes, the Deluxe does however seem to be laid out a little better.

Heritage, Deluxe, Dyna Switchback or Dyna Super Glide would be worth looking at. Mnay Dealers will let her test ride to see what she likes.

If she's vertically challenged (my assumption since she rides the 883L), she might want to try the Fatboy Lo. I'm short, and I can easily flatfoot the bike. I have it in black denim with V&H Big Radius black pipes. It looks, sounds and rides great! A bit lower than the Dyna line. But unless she has a really aggresive riding style, the lower profile won't effect her negatively. Plus it has the nice big tire up front. Check it out, and good luck.
