In 1969 I bought a 1941 FL Knucklhead for $200.00 out the door. It was in an unheated garage at about 20 degrees and it lit up on the 3rd. kick. I drove it home about 30 miles smooth as silk. It didn't have anything like the power we have today, but it sure was a sweet ride. In 1970 I sold it for $700.00 and thought I made out like a fat rat. I'd like to go back and tell myself to never sell that bike.

Just for fun I put that cost into a TODAY'S DOLLARS calculator.
$5625 of today's dollars.

Still a great deal.

Probably other things that I would use a time machine for though.

I would have kept my 1942 "45" flat head I sold in 57.

No regrets on the bike, but the mega bucks lottery would be another story!

I wouldn't go back unless I take with me what I know now.

I WOULD go forward to 2015 and look at the new RoadGlide. Probably wouldn't buy one though because it's the first model year. But, I would come back to the forum and brag that I saw one!

the only way I would go back is if I could stay in 1969 forever. Great times.

Don't regret buying any of them, but do regret either selling or not buying a couple.

Still kick myself for passing on a TüV-legal UL chopper for $6500 in '94. Seemed like stupid money for a Flatty, even given high German prices....

Totally regret selling my '98 FLTR. Wasn't riding a whole bunch at the time due to various & sundry work-related issues, was about to get married & sold it to pay off some bills before tying the knot. Loved that bike, but that *** dumpster cost me 5 years of my life that I'll never get back.

First of all. I would go back to 1971 and keep that $60 class ring I gave my first girl friend that lied about being a virgin on my hand. Left me for another guy while I was in Marine Corps bootcamp at Parris Island. She even said in the dear John letter that I wasn't getting my ring back. I wrote back, your loss.

Then I would go back to 2008 and bought a bigger bike. Sales guy even ask me if I was sure the Sportster was the bike I wanted.
