Never sold a bike till I had its replacement, problem now is I am on my second replacement and have two bikes extra. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
So are you currently bikeless? Good God man! WHAT DID YOU DO?
Your wife tells you don't sell the bike, then routinely asks if you miss your bike... are ya waiting till she screams "go get another bike!"??? So, either she likes riding or like you gone. Either way, go get another bike!! now that I'm back on the rails, to answer your question, no, I've never done that. I did have to ride rice for quite a while so I could keep riding. I've had therapy for that traumatic chapter of my life... <--- that's you riding your new bike! You look happy.

Thank you Sir, may I have another?
Been gone from the forum...didn't realize it would get this far.
Since I sold the Springer, I tried vintage...'78 FXE Superglide Restomod. It was a great bike, but not for me. No regrets. Looking at a pristine low-mile 03 Fatboy next week.

I've been through three Harleys until I found one which I said that I would never part with. My 2000 Heritage Softail Springer seemed to be "The one" It was a beauty with only 4K on it, and I took it 20K miles more in two years. Then it hit me. Maybe it's my age, but the thrill seemed to be diminishing. I'm not a cheap-***, but my 20K service with new WW tires set me back $800 and seemed like an over-kill-not too many of those could buy a new bike. I sold my bike after that last Summer, I thought of a plethora of other "rational reasons" to sell it as well. Now every time I see the neighbor cruising by on his old bobber, I get an itch. What to do? My wife will think I'm more insane than she already does (She told me not to sell the bike in the first place). She asks me all the time "Do you miss your bike?" I give her the macho retort, "No, not one bit, hun."
So, anyone else here sell and then feel dummer than dumb and dummer?
My 20K service cost me around $350, including 2 new Metzler ME 880 tires, Amsoil all around, new brake pads, and $20 to a guy to put the rear one on the rim, because I couldn't get it with my hand irons.
Selling a bike like that because you can't do some simple maintenance yourself? I find it hard to be sympathetic.

Didn't ask for your sympathy. One vet to another...you're quite the man, though.
I've had my thrill wane, but its usually my riding style shifting or my need from the bike. After 30k miles on my Softail Deluxe I realized it was a beautiful bike but the "b" motor just bored me to tears. Dyna solved all that for me.
Never have I ever wanted to be bikeless however. I have still regretted almost every bike I've had to part ways with...even my old Hondas....I'd have kept the Softail at the time if I could have swung the budget...
Bikes are awesome. Best thing in life next to my family and my health.
So yeah. Get another bike. Be a real man and admit you made a mistake.
Bought my first Harley 4 years ago(22 years old) sold it last year due to medical bills
Stayed depressed for a year then bought another.
I won't be without a bike again.

Harleys are great medicine!

I have owned bikes for 42 years, & have never been bikeless, except for selling one to buy my new one. I never sell a bike until I have a new one lined up, & I haunt Craig's just in case I see something I like (bikes, guitars, Corvettes, etc) that's local...in fact, I saw a local '07 NightTrain & looked at it today. Looking at an '09 Deluxe Sunday. 'Fi like it, I'll pull the trigger!
I would never EVER sell my sled & be bikeless. I would be homeless laying in a gutter & needing a heart transplant & still wouldn't sell it.
I love my bike & my bike loves me. I am one with it. I AM MY BIKE!!!!!
