I bought my first pair of chaps yesterday after fighting the urge for years. After 15-20 miles in the cold I realized what I'd been missing, I like these things! My 20 year old and 17 year old were home when I rode up, both said the same thing..."that's so gay"! I don't care, I've decided I like em!

I was leaning toward overpants and the responses convinced me. Is all leather waterproof enough so I wouldn't have to layer on the rain pants over the leather overpants during showers? That would be ridiculous. I've been eyeing those $70 overpants from jafrum, but have questions on their quality at that price. Why can't everyday be 80* and dry?

I've got this pair of FirstGear overpants from New Enough Leather http://www.newenough.com/protective_...overpants.html

When the temp gets up over 50, I generally wear shorts to work, so I throw these on for protection. The liner is removable for warmer weather. I've been very happy with themin thecold weather over jeans as well.
These look like they would fit the bill for me nicely. But, I need a 30" inseamand it doesn't look like they have that available.

First gear HT overpants. waterproof, windproof, some scuff resistance

a lot more comfortable and scuff resistant than pants without an ***.

They are still listed on their website on the chaps page.

I think Fox Creek stopped making these.

Leather pants by Fox Creek. Aerostitch is a great product, but man are they expensive.

Cool looks are subjective, based on who's wearing them and the beholders 'tastes'....BUT tell me just how are chaps more convenient?

You are correct. I thought I saw them as discontinued. If they're as good as their other products, I'd be interested in a pair.

Chaps are the best no question. Plus you get lay down protection.
