I've always rode year round since I started riding back in Jersey. Back then (1982) it was because my bike would start and not the car in cold weather. Now I just get the itch to ride and that's all it takes.

Well if it sounded like I was "knocking" folks riding in the cold temps I wasn't. Maybe it came out the wrong way. It's a forum, I'm asking questions just like everyone else on here (forum)......to hear what others say and do.
Yes, I have ridden in the cold temps around 30 degree's out, because "the roads were not treated with salt yet, there were no frost heaves, no sand and there was no snow yet". It was sunny out and I tried it and went for it. Froze my *** off though. That's My reason. I only wanted to know others.......geez, excuse me.
Maybe I'll ask in my next thread, what kind of oil do you use.

First off, those of us that use heated gear can attest to just how good it really is. Feels like you're sitting in a Jacuzzi. Also in a place like Denver (and other areas I'm sure) we get plenty of sunshine in between snow storms so once the sand and mag chloride clears the roads are pretty good. Finally I would think for most (myself included) it's because we love being on the bike. That's really the only reason to be on it when it's cold don't you think? The showing-off thing would end about the time you stopped feeling your fingers.

I just love to ride. With proper gear it's not too bad. I don't have heated gear, but hear they are great. The winters are short in my area so can't justify the cost of heated gear.

When I was in my 20's I sometimes rode as long as the roads were clear and the GTO stayed home..

Then it seemed I got sick all the times I did ride in the cold so I pretty much quit.

Today there is a lot better equipment for CWR...

Me either, seems like some people get a little touchy around here. I typically park it when it's gets below 40 degrees too. Way too much crap on the roads around me to risk it, they sling cinders all over the back roads around me.

Be safe!
I don't know about anyone else, but for me... I just love to ride. Because of the nature of my business, I have a lot of free time during the winter. Of course, I use common sense when it comes to road conditions (snow, ice, etc.), but I don't mind dodging a few potholes, etc. It keeps things fun & interesting! Winter riding isn't for everyone, but for me, it's another way to stave off the winter blues.

Some of my friends call me crazy... as they sit in their houses, bitching about not being able to ride!
