Default Armor All-HELP!

About a week ago we were all talking about people dumping their bikes after spraying down tires with Armor All. I learned that lesson a long time ago after seeing a guy dump his. Well I went over to a friends house who just got his first bike. He had his seat so slicked up I could hardly sit on his bike and his tires had drips of the stuff in the treads he used so much on it. Any body know how to get the stuff off? Soap and water seems to just bead up and I don't want to try harsher stuff that may hurt his finishes. I really don't want to take him to the hospital either. HELP!

wow - I would think the ONLY way would be use it, ride it and never put the stuff on again. But, I am sure there are some products to help. Maybe a leather cleaner for the seat.

There are tire dressings made for tires, and they are sticky.Armor all is for the dash, although it will slime that up too.

Ammonia is really the only thing that will cut silicone. Give that a try.

Wow. That's a mess. Just thinking out loud here, but rather than take a chance riding the bike to "wear" off the Armor All, how about using a fine sand paper in a 1/4 sheet sander to abrade the entire tread surface of the tire and "wear" off the Armor All. I think I'd try about anything prior to just riding it and hoping for the best. At least with the sanding, he wouldn't have to worry about etching the wheels from harsh chemicals.

good point. Yeah I was referring to the seat issue just wearing it off.

Agree that the sand paper might be a good option.

Not sure what ammonia does to leather or rubber.

Stop by any Sign Shop, they will have something that you spray on that will take Armor All, wax, oil, grease or anything else off the seat, tires and paint if need be. Also it wont hurt the any part of your bike.

If you were down here I'd give you some.

Simple Green and ammonia will get rid of it. Armor All on your tires is a pimp trick, tell him not to do that anymore!

Just hold the front brake and burnout until it wears off that layer of slick stuff

Ride it gently just as if the tires were brand new and allow the surfaces to scuff up. The seat will probably just take time.
