People buying bikes nowadays think Harley owes them their first born.

I edited to not confuse people on how far away from the dealer we were.

And I can't seem to explain that it wasn't a warranty or free pick-up issue. It was just a simple "ah who cares if ur broke down" issue.

You guys crack me up for real

They apparently don't need customers. No warranties were asked for or implied...

If your gonna respond to a thread AT LEAST read the dang thing!!!
You obviously didn't read my post. Where did I say you expected a free tow? If you're going to quote my post AT LEAST read the dang thing.
By the way, I didn't edit it.

For some reason I have a feeling your attitude has a big part to play in this, judging how you're acting here.

Had you called the dealership and said "Hi this is so and so (really like they give 2 ***** anyway) We had this problem and are in this location. Do you happen to know anyone or company in the area that would tow it to your shop so we can get this fixed?

Instead I feel as if the conversation went like this,

Dealer lady: XXX Harley Davidson dealership how can I help you?

You: Yeah let me talk to bill now!

Dealer lady: Please hold on one second while I get them.

Bill: This is Bill.

You: Bill this is so and so (like they give 2 *****) a head gasket went out on a bike we are 120-255 miles away and it's your fault, send a truck and trailer now so you can fix it. But yeah after arguing with you for 20 mins we will pay you, even though we don't feel it's any thing we did wrong, and if you didn't do such **** work the first time!

Bill: So and so, I'm sorry but we do not offer transportation services, by the time you add up fuel, insurance and labor expenses it far exceeds the $50 you think you should pay. If you can get your bike here we will gladly provide a estimate for you to further bitch at us about our crappy workmanship and prices. Thanks for calling.

You: I'm going to flame you all over the Hdforums!!!!

You see owning a motorcycle is not unlike everything else you paid for, it's a responsibility. You are not entitled to anything except spending ungodly amounts of hard earned (hopefully not entitlement) money on everything from parts/labor, towing, fuel, and everything else under the sun.

I'm not here defending dealers, I could careless about some dealer in Texas. But throwing a fit about a dealer not doing everything you want just makes you look like ***.

He did edit the original post which said the bike broke down 225 from his home. Not 225 fron the dearlership. Entirely plausible if his Dad lives in San Angelo near the OP.
Editing the story to clarify is one thing but changing the story to support a rant he is losing is another....

when my voltage regulator went out on my '12 with 4k on it, my first thought was not to call the dealer...called my insurance company to come and get me and tow me to the nearest dealer. as I was down in big bend and 250 miles to the nearest dealer, it did take several hours for the wrecker to get to me. nearest dealer was in Odessa and I lived in san Antonio. trip interruption insurance paid for a rental car and motel while I was waiting on the dealer to get the parts from the moco(bunch of bad regulators from supplier).

why anyone would think a dealer should come get a bike is beyond me. I have never had a warranty problem on any of the many cars, pickups, boats, and motorcycles I have owned over the last 50 years. i took it to the dealer and they fixed it. any body that is going to take trips more than a few miles from home should have unlimited towing coverage and trip interruption insurance on their policy. it costs just a few bucks to add it to your policy, and then you won't be pissing and moaning about how the dealer did you wrong.

The point of the post was to tell you guys that the dealer didnt offer ANY assistance. Why couldnt they have simply given us the number to a tow company that can bring it to them? Can we find a number to a tow company ourselves?? Sure we can. I was just a little irritated at the attitude of the dealer, not necessarily what they did or didnt do. Money wasnt the issue, attitude was the issue.

You can buy roadside assistance which includes limited towing on many insurance policies like Geico or Progressive. They arrange the tow and take it to the nearest HD dealer (you say Lubbock). If you dont want it in Lubbock then you pay the additional milage beyond say 50mi. Cheap at around $10 yr added to your policy.
