You will be fine. Sturgis is a blast and you will have fun, the Black hills are beautiful to ride thru, but the riding here in Colorado is way better(I'm from just north of Sturgis)! You will have to get off into the mountains to enjoy it though, and I would recommend doing it on the way up as you will be too tired after Sturgis!
We've done Death Valley to Pikes Peak. One bike a carb, one injected. Never changed a thing on either. Stop reading the internet and your worries will disappear.
