Another one down (rant)
The only way people will stop using cell phone in a vehicle is for the manufactures to install a shield or jamming device in the car or truck. I hate cell phones. I have one but I do not give out my number. Why would someone want to be called anytime or any place. The only reason I have it is because it is cheaper that the landline. Hands free is not the answer. They are still distracted.
Thinking back a few years what the fu@k did we do before cell phones? We waited till we got somewhere to use a phone right well wait till you pull over or stop to use a cell phone those few moments by doing so could save many lives. My 2 cents.
How about everyone leavetheir car or motorcycle
at home and take a taxi whenthey go out to drink!
That would savea 100times more livesover people
pulling over to use a cell phone!
First one: A couple is going to be late to something and he is revving too fast on streets in town. Lollygagging, grinning and looking at each other. Just before he rear-ends a truck a (radar?) alarm goes off so he looks up and whips around it in time without slowing down. Then, more grinning. Life's just wonderful.
Second one: Woman on a neighborhood street drops papers which she was fumbling with so she bends down in her seat to get them and only comes up for air when her alarm goes off right before she would have ran into a car stopped at a school crossing with people in the street in front of it. Hey, no harm, right?
Third one: Guy notices his exit ramp coming up and is already whipping it into the right lane when his side radar alarm goes off and a scoot with two aboard misses him by a few feet as he pulls back into his left lane. Hey, no blood - no foul.
Now... what is basically wrong that those three genetic freaks even got into those messes? And... if you buy a Volvo with sooper-dooper radar/alarms then you can just relax and get away with being a jerk driver, too?

Well... it's going to get worse. Watch for three new Volvo ads:

Scenario Two... biker already at stop sign gets creamed
Scenario Three... biker gets creamed from behind by the car cut off by the sudden lane change
And it's no different if you drive a 18 wheeler or other large vehicle (RVs, busses, etc.). Cagers are clueless. I couldn't begin to count the number of times I've been cut off by cagers who have no cluethat the stopping distance of a 40,000 lb vehicle is just a little bit more than their Fiesta...

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
I suspect that the good riders and drivers behave the way they do because that is how they conduct everything they do, irresponsible ones the same. It is too easy to obtain a license of any type so the goofs get wheels, some four some two. The only thing that will help is taking licensing as serious as it is. People have the impression that driving and riding is a right, something they don't need to earn, that should change. When a little rich kid can't by a viper or his sister an escalade as a first car because while they have the means (money)they don't have the credentials (proven driving experience earned over time in a lesser vehicle) you will see far less dangers coming from people like this. Similarly if a newb rider is not allowed to just jump on a Gixxer or a Texas chopper than the number of dumb biker accidents will drop. Proactivity will save more lives then reactivity. Keeping the dummies out of the seat in the first place will be far more sucessful than trying to rein them in after they are on the road.
