If u think your purchase is imminent. .ie. a few months. .. better to trade before new model year comes out because then it's "another year older".

There was a 2013 FLHTK at the dealer on Monday night. Had 6,000 miles on it, and they were selling it for $20,000. That means that they took it in trade for no more than $15-16,000.

Sorry to say, but the value of the pre-Rushmore bikes has gone into the toilet.

Ride your bike and enjoy it.

I don't think you are going to get much in trade-in for the pre-2014 touring models. The dealers seem to be saturated with used touring bikes. The last time I was in the dealer was September and they had a handfull of used touring bikes. When I went in last Saturday, the used section was flooded with the pre-2014 touring bikes. Obviously, a lot of people are trading in for the new models.

I suspect you can probably get a really good deal on used Ultras right now as everyone is wanting the new bikes and the dealer is going to have trouble unloading the used. I guess this is good news for those looking for a used tourer and bad news for those expecting a somewhat fair trade-in value.

When you go back with 30k on it, he will say oh the 30k market is bottomed out, they all want low mileage bikes currently

Mine is Paid for....I am Lucky....Nothing Wrong with a payment...if that is the only way you can get one and ride by all means do so...nothing wrong with it...But for me Right now ...Having been able to buy mine out right has allowed me to be able to do more upgrades for it to be the way I want it.....I just don't get why so many folks buy a new bike...spend a ton of money on it ...and within a few years trade it and start all over...I want more money to Ride the one I have and use that money to see more places on it

That is probably true about the pre 2014 models prices dropping, I never gave that any thought. So I guess what everybody is saying is I just as we'll wear this one out. I have mine about where I want it as far as extras on it. If I get a different one I have to start all over. It took me 2 years to decide what bike I wanted to get in the first place, and what paint scheme to put on it. I had my bike in my heated garage all winter and could not wait to ride it, finally rode last weekend and I love this bike so it will not bother me to keep it for a few more years.

why in the hell would you even think about trading a 2012 in that is exactly what you want? Its not going to fall apart at 30k or even 60k.

a salesman is trying to sell you a new bike. why are you worried about that?

keep the bike as long as you want.

i have a 2006 FLHX. hasnt broken down yet. and I am not getting rid of it anytime soon.
