Default Need Help Identifying a Motorcycle!

Please help!! I'm trying to identify the model of the motorcycle in this picture. I believe the model year would be no newer than a 1980 or so.

(This is a photo of my husband's dad on his motorcycle. Shortly after this pic, he was killed by a drunk driver. I'm trying to gather more info about the motorcycle and eventually try to find one similar for my husband. But I'm trying to do it "on the sly" so it's a surprise. And I have NO IDEA what I'm looking at in the picture.)

Thank you!!

Looks like a '81s vintage Wide Glide.

It may be newer than 1980. I found almost the exact model here:

THANK YOU so much!!

It can't be too much newer because he died in either '80 or '81. But the one you found looks like it to me. Thank you!

I've been searching on Google all morning but it's like a wild goose chase for me. :-)

So thanks again!!

Has to be a 1980-81 Wide Glide, don't think they made on in '79?

Now the fun of finding one begins! Good luck and I hope your husband enjoys his surprise.

When looking for a bike, very likely the air filter was replaced. That's the shoebox size looking chrome item near the right knee.

Although distinctive some considered ugly, or if changed the carburetor, it likely would be replaced by now. Often called a "ham can" air filter. You may need to get one off of ebay or someplace if wanting that exact look. Depending how they replaced, could need to change the carburetor also.

I still have the "hamcan" off my '77 superglide. It was the second thing to come off that bike,as soon as I bought it!

I'm pretty sure it would have an AMF on the tank if it where pre 81...
