I just bought a Schuberth C3 Pro. Pricey, but very worth it. It's a fibre shell, very light modular (flip up) helmet with built in retractable sunshade. Extremely quiet. Also has built in FM and bluetooth antennas for use with a comms system.

It's the most comfortable helmet I have ever tried and fits perfectly. Almost like a sofa for your head!

But - as others have said, you really need to visit a bricks 'n' mortar store and try on a bunch of different brands as different makes have different shapes and you might have an "Arai" shaped head, or a "Shoei" shaped head. Figure out what brand feels the most comfortable and what size you need. Then try and get the store to match the best online price you can find. Failing that, buy online!

I like Noland helmets. They're comfortable, and they have the ratchet type strap buckles that I wish everyone would use.

Different manufacturers have variations in shell shapes. As cool and as nice as Arai helmets are I don't have an Arai head, but a Shoei RF series shell fit me just right.

Yes helmets do need to break in, I wore full face helmets for years, that doesn't mean a too tight helmet will stretch it wont, your helmet needs to fit right to begin with then the padding will pack in a little in some places and the helmet becomes more comfortable.

I'll say it again the helmets not going to stretch, but it will pack in to small extent

As an example if you have an oblong head then an Arai will be comfortable and a shoei RF will not. Getting the right shell shape to fit you is important if you don't even if the helmet is the correct size you will have pressure points that cause headaches, you'll then go get the next size up which will be too large.

FYI if your looking at HD helmets HJC makes most of their helmets for them, go find the HJC version and you'll save some bucks. For example the one with the pull down internal sun visor is an HJC IS-2 MSRP $109 vs the HD branded one which was over $200 last time I was at the dealership.

Revzilla has videos about helmets that are valuable. Definitely should check them out.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but does the Akoury have more of an oval shape or round shape? A lot of people on here seem to like them and I'm looking for a new one. I have a Skid Lid now and it fits great. Thanks in advance.

I have the C3 (not the pro) Great helmet. Easily the most comfortable and quiet helmet I have ever owned.

Shoie neotec.....like anything else in life you get what you pay for, you can cheap out and get a loud poor fitting helmet or one that will enhance your experience.

Neotec or a schuberth c3
