installed my Mich's Commander II last summer,, now with 7k, Both front and rear only has 2/32'nds wear left..
The MC-IIs rear should last about the same as the 4 previous Lops 401's (about 10k per)
and the Mc-II's front will need replaced at the same time with 10k Whereas the Lops402's lasted easy 20 and could have gone longer

So no more Michelin commanders II for me,,

The tire is OK but not all that much better,, Main thing is Michelins claim of 2x the mileage,,, Wrong.....

I just replaced OEM Dunlop with a MCII on the rear. Still running stock LOP on the front. I can't tell a bit of difference running two different brands. I'm OCD as well. I hate to waste my hard earned money. Changing a tire out with 50% of the tread remaining is like flipping a $50 bill out on the ground and driving away.

If your OCD about having the same tires on your cages then you must buy them 5 at a time when you change brands.

I've had mix and match tires that were fine & some that didn't get along well at all. I replace the one that's shot, usually the rear, and take a ride. If I like the feel I keep going. If I don't I change the other tire too.

I have to agree with just putting on another rear and then replace both after this go round.
I ran a lot of mismatched tires in my biking life and never had a problem.

I don't do it now -- but I was doing it up to 7 years ago -- I had the same brand but different model tires -- they worked great - I

Tires are always a hotly debated subject. In all my years running every sort of tire on our Harleys and most always riding aggressively never had any problems. Never gave mismatching brands a second thought because there were never any issues. Ran car tires on the rear for years one of our bikes still do.
It has to be what your comfortable with.

I got 14k on my bike and rear tire at center marker, so replaced both.

You should be able to get the MC II's cheaper than what your posted. Try Chapparel Motorsports in CA or Bikebandit. They both ship free to your house.

I just got Dunlop American Elites (frt and rear) delivered for free for total of $310. The MC II's would've been $290.
