Default 6.5 Boom Box Navigation Question

I've read several posts alluding to the 2014 6.5 Boom Box being capable of displaying vehicle speed while in "Navigation" [GPS] mode.

I've searched and cannot find any combination of settings that display MPH or any other unit of speed while navigating.

Help?

Hey Don,

I just did this a couple of days ago on mine, sitting on it in the garage, with the ignition switch set to "Acc"...

When looking at the navigation screen, note that there are two small areas for information on the screen at the bottom corners of the map--these may be blank at first.

Touch the screen right in either bottom corner and you should get a list of options for display in that area. Search through the possibilities, pick whatever you want to display (speed is one of the many options), and Bob's your uncle.

Hope this helps,

Shane

Hi Shane,

Thanks for the info . . . but I don't see anything on my screen like you describe.

I have never found a way to display speed on the Boom System. In addition, every dealer I have talked with tells me there is no speed display...

I think Shanebo may have been thinking of the Garmin that HD also sells.

On page 97 of the Boom Box owners manual figure 71. You will see the time on the left side above the radio station. On the right side is the same but blank. Touch that area and it will give you a list of items to display in that area. You can do the same thing on the left side also just touch the time and you will get the same list.

Nope,

It's right there on the screen with everything else on the 6.5 Boom system.

I had to actually touch the screen there (in the blank bottom corners) in order for anything to start happening. The menus and options for those display areas are accessed by touching the screen in either bottom corner.

Perhaps there are different software versions--or maybe a bug in the system on some?

All the best,

Shane

Hi Shane and all,

My Boom doesn't have the "areas" that are shown on page 97 [Fig. 71]. It shows the radio freq but if I 'touch' the area above it . . . or the same area on the right/bottom . . . it changes the Map screen to a different map screen with a large circle in it that does who-knows-what.

A month or so ago I updated the firmware in the system. It's possible that the latest software/firmware removed the features we are discussing.

edit: mine also does not show the clock above the radio freq as in Fig. 71.

Bummer dude,

FWIW, my radio was flashed with it's initial installed software last Friday when I picked it up. Not sure if this is the latest, or if there were/are any differences.

The clock didn't display on mine either until I did this process.

All the best,

Shane

I re-read Shanebo instructions, and sure enough, it works. However, it is simply a replay of what your speedo says. It is not a GPS calculated speed.
