I do it all the time. If it's nice out, I'll take off from work and just ride for an hour or 2 in the middle of the day. It really helps to clear my head... it does make it hard to go back to work, though!
I ride alone except when I ride with my son who also has a Harley. We have ridden together from coast to coast and TX to Sturgis, Laughlin, all over the Rockies and across the southern border. He does not live near me so other than trips, I do day rides and two to five day rides alone. I like riding alone on my own terms.
