Not a judgement on my part but I've never really understood the need to dress the part of a "biker" with patches and all. In fact I'm approaching middle age quickly and ridden Harley's since my teens - never even owned a vest or chaps. That being said I agree with Dickey, wear what makes ya happy! Thank your friend for his service!
Hey guys, wanted to get an idea of proper etiquette as far as patches on vests. A buddy of mine recently had (2) new patches put on his vest. The issue is it is in a 3 pc configuration on the back.
The top reads "Air Force"
The bottom reads "verteran"
In the middle there is a large Willie G Harley skull.
He has no club affiliations at all.
Do guys in MC's consider this a (3)pc rocker? Is it inappropriate at all?

I've never bothered with collecting patches. I never and would never wear them. Or a leather vest. But those there assless chaps come in real handy when the temps drop.
In Northern California, the C.O.C(confederation of clubs) discusses stuff like this and if it is decided that your patches are a no go. They will put out a b.o.s(beat on site) out on you. Which means, if you are confronted, you will have to surrender your cut or face the consequences.
Alot of work, commitment and pride goes into being a member of a sanctioned M.C. and they dont want that honor being deluted by people who "buy" patches and configure them into a M.C. style cut versus earning them through being accepted into a true botherhood.

As long as there isn't a territorial rocker or a MC patch most won't probably give a second look. The ones that normally cause a problem are the ones that get together and decide to call themselves an MC, buy a mail order patch, and wear a bottom rocker that claims a state as territory, or the colors they choose are those of an already sanctioned club. Most of the time the mail order bunch doesn't have enough since to know not to be showing their *** or what time or sacrifice was put in by someone to earn the right to wear a 3PP. That can lead to problems.
There are enough military and vet patches out there that can be purchased that problems can be avoided.
