Yup, went to dealer today to do this with an engine I've been piecing together over last few months, and they said the program had been discontinued.... =-/

Kinda supports what I've been suspecting for a few years, they've cut enough corners and cheaped out on materials and assembly procedures so much these engines are pretty much disposable now. Too much of a pain to R&R so it's cheaper to get a new one.
Well, that sucks. Sure I can buy another motor, but the numbers won't match anymore, which means I have to carry additional documentation to prove it's not stolen.
One less reason to deal with H-D anymore, I guess.
Frankly, I'd rather have Harley rebuild my motor than anyone I know around here. There isn't a shop around here I'd trust with the job, and I can't do it myself.

Did a reman EVO on a friend's Softail in 2011 and could not identify one original part on the engine they shipped back. Cases, barrels, pushrod tubes and heads were new. Even the oil filter mount was new. The entire turn around was just over three weeks. I don't think they were remaning much anyway.
I'd rather have a remaufactured engine because they will check the clearances, etc. using seasoned (mine) parts.
All the flexing of metals should be done.
Find a builder you trust who will warranty their work and have them do it. Will be better then whatever HD deems fit to run.
I can't read ^^^^ but was at the service depart today checking on my ACR valve issue. The Harley guy told me that as of July 31, the exchange program was going away and being replaced with a long block program. He hasn't seen the official release but management told him. I think the long block idea is better; maybe more customization now with a crate engine.
They've always had a "long block" program, it was the "Smart Start" engine program, but I see even that has been removed from H-D's website. I can only conclude at this point, until I hear otherwise, "no more engines from Harley."
