As the title suggests, my FLHXS clutch is causing trigger finger on my left hand middle finger. For anyone who isn't familiar with "trigger finger" it's when repetitive opening/closing/gripping causes inflammation in a sheath that the finger's flexor muscle tendon slides though. the result is that when you open your hand, finger(s) get "stuck". When you open "harder" the stuck finger kind of snaps open.
Wondering if anyone has this issue and what the resolution is. Can the clutch lever tension be lessened?
I know there's a quicky outpatient surgery to fix it, but I'm only 33 and think it's premature to go surgical if there's an easier non surgical route.
As you already know, surgery should be a last resort. It's caused when a knot develops on the tendon of the flexor tendon and starts sticking in the tendon sheath. I've had the surgery on 4 fingers and all turned out Ok except one. Find yourself a good hand surgeon and have him give you a shot of steroids into the bad finger. You should then rest the hand for a few days while the steroids do their thing. In most cases, the steroid shot will relieve the trigger and everything will be alright. Soaking your hand in warm, not hot water for about five minutes first thing in the morning will also help alot. Hope this helps and you can avoid surgery.

I installed both myself, so pretty easy. One piece of advice though, if you decide to go with the AMP clutch assist, do NOT tighten that bolt in too tight. It will break inside your lever. I think that's why they give you an extra one.
Oh, and while you've got the clutch cable out, don't forget to lube it up real good before you put everything together. I use the baggie+rubberband method.
Wow, I have trigger finger as well, never knew it had a name. In my case every time someone follows too close or comes over into my lane my middle left finger flies up Uncontrollably.
