I have been happy with Corbin seats and customer service. I have been using them since 1996 and will get another one if I change bikes. I buy retail and deal directly with them over the telephone.
I've bought 3 or 4 Corbin seats in the past 20 years. I have always been happy with the seats but have hated the process. And it has gotten progressively worse. How can a company have such a good product and such bad customer service. None of my seats were ever delivered when promised. On the last one I added an extra couple weeks to what they said so I wouldn't get so upset and they still went 3 or 4 weeks beyond that. Man was I mad.
I think the problem is the shop runs the sales department. Or they are afraid up front if they tell you the real delivery you won't order the seat.
I do think I am done with them. There are other choices, one shouldn't have to take so much crap when they lay down $500 or $600 for a seat. Thank God they arrived as ordered I can't imagine what it would take to get them to fix something. I'm going to tell my buddies if I ever need another seat, if I even mention Corbin I want them to kick me in the nuts.
I had this same experience... When I originally ordered my seat, I ordered it without the backrest. Once I got home, I changed my mind and called to see if I could get it made with the backrest. No problem. They took care of it.
I have read so many posts with people that have had bad experiences with their customer service that I have to believe them. Maybe I just got lucky but truly, I had a good experience with them.
SERVICE UPDATE:
SO THE ONE THING I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT MY CORBIN CLASSIC SOLO WAS THE BACK PLATE THAT CAME ON THE BACKREST. IT HAD A "WINGED WHEEL" THAT REALLY WASN'T MY TASTE...I JUST DECIDED THAT I WOULD LIVE WITH IT.
SO, THE OTHER DAY, MORE THAN A YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED THE SEAT, I GAVE THEM A CALL. (I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH A GUY IN THE ORMOND BEACH OFFICE NAMED SERGIO FROM THE START.) HE TOLD ME IT WAS NO PROBLEM TO REPLACE, SAID IF I WANTED TO, I COULD RETURN THE ONE I DIDN'T LIKE, AND HE'D SEND ME A NEW ONE. ABOUT 4 DAYS LATER, I RECEIVED IT IN THE MAIL, NO CHARGE.
SO, EVEN THOUGH IT SHOULDN'T BE DEPENDENT ON THE SPECIFIC PERSON, MAYBE THE ISSUE IS CONNECTING WITH THE RIGHT INDIVIDUAL. I CAN TELL YOU THAT THE PEOPLE IN ORMOND BEACH (AND SERGIO IN PARTICULAR) HAVE BEEN REALLY HELPFUL TO ME.
I got mine at Hollister in person. Nothing but great service. I even got to meet Corbin himself. Sorry yours wasn't up to par.
As far as the ratings with the BBB goes, if they pay money then they could have a better rating. The more you pay, the higher your rating!

Bought the Corbin solo for the road king, ordered smooth to match the bags and I got textured. They would not change it.
The seat is comfortable but when I look at the plastic back on the riders back rest I get pissed at the whole deal and tell folks who ask to shop elsewhere.

You would think a maker of "custom" seats would be able to provide
it's customers with what they want. Not so with Corbin.
Now, I'm going to have to pay someone to replace Corbin's textured
crap with actual smooth vinyl to match my bags. Corbin sucks!
