Wheel cleaners are known to be very acidic I refuse to use them citrus degreaser at the most you have to be very careful what you apply to wheels weather auto or bike sorry to hear about your bad experience

you need an aluminum polish. my brand new bike had a couple stains on the bare aluminum parts of the front wheel that came right out with some mother's aluminum polish and a soft towel. i was surprised to find out that there was no clearcoat on the wheels and i bet theres none on yours either.

Throw that stuff away.
Now you get to strip ALL of the clear coat off, re-polish and re-clearcoat that wheel. (You might get off easier with some hand polishing.)
Sorry for the bad news.
(And remember that soap and water thing.)
at this point, just thinking about plasti-dipping my wheels black. i've been contemplating it for a little while, and after this, kind of an excuse to just go and do it

Try some s100 polishing soap ...... Go easy on the black ...test a small spot and be sure you rinse it all off

Sorry to hear about your bad luck.
But if you decide to replace the wheels I have a brand new Fatboy low rear wheel that was taken off a new 2013 Fatboy low with 2 miles, I will sell for a fair price.
Just and option, good luck.

I be pissed too. Most wheel cleaners are acid based and will eat into the wheels if left on too long or in bright sunshine.

I find Shout stain remover (the kind for laundry) to be very effective and gentle on wheels. Wet the wheels first, spray on and leave for 5 minutes or so. Then I just rub my hand on the wheels.

Switching to dustless brake pads will go a long way in keeping your wheels clean.

That is 100% correct. I learned the hard way years ago on my Porsche Fuchs wheels. Very bad. Fwiw, you can hand rub Vaseline on them and it makes them look better for awhile. But, your best solution is to buy the take offs. Sucks dude.
