Sorry you had to learn the hard way about those so-called 'no touch' cleaners.
Soap and water man, works every time and it never streaks painted wheels or hurts tires.
i was concerned about scratching the black off the wheels, but i could certainly try to be extra careful and give it a shot. can't get any worse.. looks like garbage
What kind of wheels? Are they polished?I use Super Clean(comes in a purple jug from Wal-Mart)on the factory solid wheel on my Deuce.Spray it on and after about 30 seconds wash it off. When I spray it on tires it turns brown but again I don't leave it on very long.As far as the black streaks, may have to polish them off.We use a product called Aluma-Brite on the tanks and wheels on our big trucks at work,if you leave it on too long it will leave black streaks. It doesn't make them shine like polished but they will be clean.Good luck.
What's the chances of the black being brake dust? Have you tried cleaning the cleaner with the cleaner that made the mess in the first place?
sounds like a lot of cleaning after i cleaned with the cleaner... but yes, i went back and tried scrubbing the streaks off with just about anything i could find.
That there product is your problem, man. It is a caustic cleaner (like diluted oven cleaner) that will eat through clear coat faster than you can say "AH, ****!".
Throw that stuff away.
Now you get to strip ALL of the clear coat off, re-polish and re-clearcoat that wheel. (You might get off easier with some hand polishing.)
Sorry for the bad news.
(And remember that soap and water thing.)
