Actually it happened just before that on the left hander with merging traffic from the right. Helmer road at the airport is scarey slippery with tar snakes. I ride that way every day but avoid that road if possible.

Glad you stayed up and just trashed the rim...Could have been worse but you and the sled are ok...Those things do suck for sure...

Good job holding it together. Man the pucker factor goes way up when that kind of stuff happens.

Looks like its a spoked rim so it would have a tube.

I need to go check my front rim now. I hit one of those kind of hard yesterday on my way home from work on I55. My ride felt fine coming in today, and don't think I hit it hard enough to do what yours did, but seeing that pic makes me want to check anyway.

Just found a 2003 spoke rim AND tire. Harley takeoff and has less than one season on it. $200

Wrench and lift, here I come!

Default I can sympathize!

I can sympathize with you kzoo! I live near Traverse City and there are some roads up here that are so full of potholes that it's practically impossible to miss them all. If you tried, you'd probably get pulled over for suspicion of DUI. I try to avoid those roads as much as possible. Problem is that they'll get the potholes fixed just in time for the snow to start flying again so the potholes can come out again next spring... Glad you stayed upright!
