Thundermax timing......

So after a year of trying to dial in the Thundermax I finally got it solved. I would get pinging in 4th 5th and 6th gears between 23oo and 3400 rpm's between 25-75% throttle when a bit of load was put on the motor, like a hill between 55-75mph. I originally dialed out about 3 to 4 degrees of timing and it was better but not quite right especially in hot weather. After taking out another 3 degrees I sent the map to TMaxx and they took out two more degrees and said it should be fine. Still have the same problem. I finally called Jamie at Fuel Moto and he said to take out more timing as it could run as low as 16 to 19 degrees in that range. I did that and now its running better than ever, like a top with no pinging and still pulls in 5th and 6th gear, no problem, no ping. It also has more power & runs cooler. I don't know what tmax was thinking with 30 degree timing in that cruise range. I use their map 838 which was for their cams which are close to my woods 555 and true duals. I now have that timing range down 11 degrees from the original map from 2300-3800 rpm, 25-75% throttle and the same wide open. So if you have a pinging problem don't be afraid to bring that timing way down. Tmax timing can be quite agressive on some maps. I've read that others have found the same problem.
