Had an 00 Suzuki and 03 Triumph. Have had to wait up to a month on parts at times. Worse with the Triumph. Thankful through the Triumph board would be able to find sometimes Honda parts that would work. If you are going to wrench it yourself, check ebay, and bike boards or used part dealers. As sometimes it is the only options.

Has your dealer tried to call other dealers? My guess is SOMEONE has them. Like others have said parts for other bikes/cars are going to be much harder to find than stuff for a Harley that keeps the same engine/chassis for much longer than most car lines do.

I own two Mitsubishi's.. almost everything I get repaired on it needs to be ordered even from the dealer.

The wait time sucks, but I bet if you called around you could find one.

My dealer has checked with many other dealers. Very few dealers have them and they are not willing to give them up as all of the dealers know it is a backordered headache item. I volunteered to drive to a dealer and get one but they have not been able to find a dealer with one that is willing to give it up. As I mentioned earlier my dealer has been great. I'm sure they need the space that it is occupying in their shop.

LOL.....what does that mean? The other dealers don't want to sell the part to you because they might want to sell the part to someone else?

The induction module, part #27200003, is classified as non-stockable. There is also a major problem with this part. My dealership has 3 bikes, one being mine, waiting for this part. Customer support may offer part 27200002, which was the previous part, but it was replaced for some reason. So you will be getting a failure waiting to happen. I have been waiting for the part for 6 weeks. Harley says the part "MAY" be released on July 18th. I bet they are still producing and shipping bikes, but will not divert those parts to help out their customers. I also called customer support and I guess you have to have an "I don't give a sh%#" attitude to work there.

I am not surprised at all. Others feel like this is a laughing matter but it is **** poor customer service. Makes your bike disposable. I've been riding Harley's for 20 years and couldn't be more disappointed in the method of operation.

No one feels like it's a laughing matter, but remember, you started this thread stating that you thought that H-D should compensate you for your time while waiting for your part. What business, any business, does that?

Just curious, how far back in model years do you think a business should provide what you believe to be good customer service, as in carry all of the parts that went into the bike whether or not they use them any more?

Harley's are different than cars. Especially in the Northern states, with a shorter riding season, they last longer. They offer extended warranties for bikes for at least 10 years. They should have decent parts availability for that long.

Now that they have ruined the appearance of the Ultra, with the Rushmore, I would like to keep my bike forever. Even when I buy a new tourer, which will probably be a 2013, I would like to keep my old bike.

GM is providing free rental cars for people who need a new ignition switch. The company that made the switches has to start making parts that were discontinued. What does Harley think will happen when a rider is going through some serious twisties or running down the interstate at 70 mph in heavy traffic and all of a sudden the bike goes into limp mode.

I'd ask the dealer what he could do for a trade in on a newer or older bike that doesn't have the problematic induction module, or see if they'll give you Bluebook trade in value (minus the cost of the induction module) for the bike, and sell it to them.
