Sequential Port Injection?
The right side of the engine says Sequential Port Injection. I was assuming this meant that this model was a fuel injected Road King. However when I start the bike it does start right up but takes a bit to warm up before it will idle without stalling. When the bike is warmed up it idles very low like a carbureted bike would do.
I had a 2002 heritage that was without a doubt EFI and cranked right up and idled fast initially and never stalled without it being warmed up. It also idled much faster then this Sequential Port Injected Road King.
I am embarrassed to say I don't know how to tell if this Road King is fuel injected or carburetor model, any insight? It idles like a carburetor but not sure what Sequential Port Injection means, EFI or Carburetor??
Thanks
Mike
Actually, it should idle around 950-1100 RPM. The Magnetti Morrelli injection system had it's problems maintaining consistent idle speed. A fuel management system could help with that, but not absolutely necessary if you are running stock configuration.

Get a service manual and you won't be spending good money for the simple things you can do yourself.
One easy way to tell if you have carb or EFI, look on the left side under the middle/back end of the fuel tank. Are there two fuel lines or just one? Also, is there a **** that you can pull out like a choke? It's actually a fuel enrichment valve, if you have one, but acts like a choke, and most people just call it a choke.
If you have two hoses, and no fuel enrichment ****, or fuel cutoff valve, then it is EFI.
If it has a single hose (actually a single large fuel hose, with a smaller vacuum hose coming out of the back of the valve), with a fuel cutoff valve, and a 'choke' ****, it is carb'd.
