Anyone know if the Harley mustache bar for Dyna Switchback take away from the ground clearance of the floarboards? I scrape them alot and wouldn't want the engine guard to scrape the ground because it doesn't give and could cause a crash.
Here is a picture from Harley's site. It's a picture of a Dyna with foot pegs. If the floor boards are in the same position as the foot pegs, then it looks like I would scrape the engine bar the same time I scrape the boards. But these foot pegs look like they might be higher and closer in than the floor boards.
Here is a side picture from my bike. It looks like the only place for the lower bar of the engine guard to route out from the frame is either below the floar board or in above it, between the board and the brake pedal. If it extends out below the board than this won't work at all.
Anyone have these bars mounted to their Switchback? Can you take a side view picture?
Thanks for the help everyone. Much appreciated. Anyway, I took a chance and ordered it. It fit beautifully and is bent around the floor boards. I attached a picture.
I know im digging an old thread up here, but I keep finding this page while researching these bars. Im planning on a trip down near by biloxi and was looking for some type of highway pegs. Ive been toying w the idea of engine guards for several reasons. I just had a couple questions.
1. How the comfort having your feet up on them? Cant find a pic of anyone on them. (Im 5'10" btw)
2. Have you added/is it possible to add pegs or mini boards to this?
3. Do the HD soft lowers fit these?
The bars are good looking and convenient. For a long trip I'd suggest putting additional pegs on. There is plenty of room and the regular highway pegs will move your feet and legs out wider to a more comfortable position. I don't like the look of 'bolt-on' pegs, so I just use the rubber pages on the bars and it's comfortable enough for me.
I ended up pulling the trigger and buying them (kutter hd had free shipping over $99). The day after I purchased them, a guy at work went down on some pea gravel on his street glide ( > 10 mph). He had engine and saddle bag guards and it saved the bike. Put them on last night. Went out for 6 or 7 hours. They do look great!! I agree with you if you wanted to stay in the stretched out position, additional pegs would be necessary. It gives me a chance to switch positions for a few minutes on long rides.
I also have the hd downtube bag and it fits and looks great.
