Ultra Classics had EFI in '97. EFI was optional on other FLH models (including Road King) in '98. I think carbs were still an option well into the Twin Cam era. In fact, I believe it is only the last couple of years where EFI was the only option, but could be wrong about that.
My 1996 Road King had EFI. I was told it was the first year they offered it (On the Road King). It was a Magnetti Marelli (However that is spelled) but it was a one off, and I was told they cancelled it for 1997 and started offering it again in 1998 (A newer version).
I'm looking for a new/used bike and doing some research on a few things.
I'm kind of old school and not sure I want EFI w/all the computer garbage (my opinion only). Something I can work on and keep for a long time.
All my vehicles have carbs and real basic so I kind of want to stay that way since I know hot to work on carbs etc but we will see after I keep reading up/researching this etc.

I've got two bikes with EFI and two with carbs. I don't see any short-comings in either! One EFI bike has an older system for which there is not much available for altering it, whereas the other is bang up to date. They're fine!
You asked a very general question. If you tell us which model range you are looking at we can give you better answers. The Sporty range was the last to drop carbs, the first was probably Touring, several years earlier.
