Upper Triple Tree Screws Softail Custom
I am a new member and owner of a 1994 Softail Custom. Thought I would throw this out there as this is my first Harley Davidson. I developed a front fork seal leak on the left fork. I have the service manual and this does not look like a big deal. I pulled the fork out, pulled the tube out, changed the seal and am putting the fork back in. I noticed something odd. The upper fork tube plug has two flats on it. My assumption was that the upper triple tree screw engages the flat on the fork tube. As I was putting it back together, I realized the screw does not even come all of the way through the triple tree let alone engage with the upper slider tube flat. SO, I pulled the right screw, it is the same length. Are the upper tubes meant to rotate , or did the last guy that work on this put the wrong ones in . Any thoughts appreciated.

Delmar
