Default Special Modification Help please

Hi everyone, I could use your guys help. I saw this online, and I loved the idea of it:
http://www.kuryakyn.com/products/407...enger-backrest

I have a 2011 FXDF (fatbob), according to everything that I have read this DOES NOT FIT my bike, but if i was to take the "detachable / quick release sides from my old sissy bar/ luggage rack could I drill a whole and modify them in-order to attach the multi purpose ones?

anyone have an opinion or help? you guys think it would be worth the trouble?

According to my reading of their website it does fit your bike! Just put your bike's details in the white boxes and voila! If in doubt give them or a dealer a call.

@grbrown: It is not compatible with the 2011 FXDF due to the fact they do not make sideplates for that model. If you actually put the model information in the white boxes the website very clearly states "Sorry there were no parts found for this product that match your selected bike."

@I2th_M4N: The backplates and backrest are separate purchases so I would say modifying existing side plates would work. Drilling a hole would be the easiest task, but figuring the radius that allows the backrest to move from passenger to rider position and the notches that allow it to lock into place will be tough without using a template. It would be nice if you knew someone with one so you can copy theirs. $70+ for sideplates (templates) that don't fit your bike seems like a lot to me. You can also go to a hardware store and get some sheet plastic. It's easy to cut but rigid enough to use as a working template.
