Replacing stage 1 intake back plate
Excuse my question that may be common sense to some, but I am new to the performance world and do not want to mess up my bike.
So here it goes
I currently have a 07 super glide FXD with with a stage 1 SE AC (came like that from dealership). I am wanting to change the backplate to a chrome instead of the the black plate it came with.
What needs to be done in order to have this swap, is it a simple swap or do I need new gaskets, o rings, and tuning?
I also have a Vance and Hines short shot exhaust if that information is needed.
I have never taken off the back plate. Does it require alot of mechanical knowledge to delve past the air filter?
I am always scared to mess with my Harley. Its only till I get a little grease on my hands that I start mustering up courage to start unbolting stuff.
Thanks for the speedy response
Hex 5/16 for the air cleaner cover
Torx 27 for the 3 torx screws that attach the filter to the backplate
Tequila shots x 3
pull off the black rubber breather tubes after the filter is off to expose the breather bolts.
7/16 socket for the 2 breather bolts
1/2 socket for the 3 bolts that attach the backplate to the TB
You might need a gasket from the backplate to the TB, I know when I took my SE Stage 1 off, the gasket came off in chunks.
