screech or squeal on cold start

Hey all, whenever starting cold, it may be the starter, or something in the transfer case, I get a winy loud squeal that's getting worse. Once the bikes hot, I don't hear it again upon restarting. This was happening before my wrench was inside my transfer case changing the oil, tightening up and replacing my stator and voltage regulator. I tend to think its the starter, but wouldn't the starter always squeal if it was on the way out?

Any guidance would be a great help!!
