Default vacuum line? Please help!

Hey all, while cleaning I found a, i guess, vacuum line just sitting behind my air filter. It is coming form the rear next to 3 other lines (the bottom one). She seems to be running fine, though my experience is very minimal!

Any idea??

I believe it's from the charcoal canister ( im in CA...) but my filter housing does not have the hole in the back for it to mount to.

Well? Let's see? Probably to find out if this is required to be connected or something. If you can't help then troll elsewhere sir. I'm here because I'm new to Harley and to motorcycles. I was unsure if this being disconnected would cause an issue with the bike.

Let's try to narrow it down. Tell us what year and model you have. Also any mods you're aware of.
You might be able to look it up on the parts microfiche diagram:

It's a 06 Sportster xl1200c. The only upgrade that I can tell is the screaming eagle slip on's.. The air filter assembly looks newer but I cannot tell. I cannot feel a hole in the back of the filter assembly for the line to go into. I did trace the line back and is the clean air out of the charcoal canister. I am just concerned that it might cause an air/fuel issue if this was not connected. Do these "need" to be connected or is it just a ca emissions thing?

What's the other end of the line go to ? Does it just vent to the atmosphere ?

Most likely to be an engine breather IMHO, which suggests the air filter has been changed at some time and that pipe left dangling. It may be possible to identify it on-line here.

That would be my guess also. I bet a new air cleaner has been installed. YD
