I got the old school coke bottle style Avon grips instead of the higher priced HD one's. I installed the clutch side first thinking it would be easier. Did so and everything went on without a hitch with the exception of the housing being a little loose. I checked it many times and removed / reinstalled several times with the same results. Only reason I went with the Avons was last year we had Avons installed on her trike with great success, but these just don't seem to fit right. This is on a push/ pull type set up, not electronic. I'm also very mechanically inclined so I don't feel I'm doing anything wrong at this point. Have considered just purchasing the HD grips instead. It appears as though the end that goes into the clutch cover is just a little bigger. Other than taking a file to it , but that's not my plan at this point. The clutch housing doesn't appear to close down as there is a very small gap between the two housings. AS I said I have installed and removed this grip several times making sure everything is in place. So my question is this , has anyone here experenced this and if so what did you do ? Called Avon's toll free number , left a message, guess they are not in or are busy.
Aquanet hair spray!!! spray inside the grip and the handlebar slide it on and let it setup over night. This is what the vast majority use i had a consistent problem with it the left pulling off that can be dangerous. The hairspray worked ok but i ended up using a small amount of gorilla glue and that worked great

I haven't installed the grip permantly just yet, but understand what your saying and will follow up on that procedure when I get the clutch cover figured out. I will be awaiting a call from Avon hopefully today sometime as Saturday I contacted them. Thanks for the reply, as of now we have plans to attend the bike week there and have given thoughts on re locating to SC as I have some relatives who moved there like 15 years ago that live in different area's in that state. I really like it there.
What year is your bike? With Avon grips on older models you need to cut off the fat part that fits in the switch housing and glue the grip on sliding it all the way until it touches the switch housing..

Bike in question is a 2016, I just put the stock clutch side back on so I can at least ride it. Been a few days almost a week heard nothing back from Avon. When I put the fuel pak 3 on I contacted v/h and within mins I had my answer, so far not impressed with Avon tech services. I realize their are millions that may have an issue, but if this is their customer service I'm not impressed. At this point I'm either letting the stock grips on or spend the coins to get HD grips.
